Acquirer SAFE: Behavior Tracking

Unique Behavior Tracking

Step 1 – Customer Shops on the Merchant Website
The customer’s visits to the various pages are tracked with an unobtrusive JavaScript (similar to Google analytics) that collects information about the customer’s behaviour and transmits it to the SAFE server.

Step 2 – Customer Enters Credit Card Details
The customer is still tracked using the JavaScript which does not in any way interfere with the shopping experience. All the information is encrypted using the highest PCI certification standards.

Step 3 – Transaction is Received by PSP
The merchant submits the transaction to the PSP as normal. Implementation of Acquirer SAFE does not require any changes to how merchants or PSPs handle transactions.

Step 4 – Acquiring Bank Requests a Real-Time Transaction Verification
The Acquirer (or PSP) sends a request to the Acquirer SAFE server containing merchant ID and basic transaction information. Acquirer SAFE matches the transaction to valid shopping behaviour on the merchant's approved websites, and responds within less than 150 milliseconds with a yes/no reply regarding the validity of the transaction.

Step 5 – Acquiring Bank Processes the Verified Transaction
Now that it has been verified that the transaction did indeed originate from an approved website, the transaction can be processed on the credit card interchange.

Acquirer SAFE does not affect or interfere with the shopping experience at the merchant website or the payment page.
